Aquarium Arts is a small family business in Bakersfield, California
that specializes in the sale of marine organisms and equipment for the saltwater aquarium and
the production and maintenance of marine reef aquaria. We pride ourself on the conduct of our business where honesty and integrity are hallmarks.
Marty Murphy, the owner/manager of Aquarium Arts has 25 years experience in the aquarium hobby and business, including 5 years in a retail shop, 20 years of aquarium maintenance, 18 years of aquarium fabrication and nearly 10 years on the internet.
Marty's dad, Ted, a retired university zoology professor, has worked with Marty in most aspects of the business, especially in system design and fabrication, equipment construction and repair, development and maintenance of the web site and internet communications.
We have product, information, and computer resources
that enable us to design, fabricate, install and maintain top quality systems.
Live rock, hard and soft corals, other invertebrates, and fish, collected by ethical suppliers, are shipped to us from the Red Sea, Fiji, the Marshall Islands, Tonga, the Seychelles
and Solomon Islands, as well as the Caribbean.
We select livestock for our clients, based on our personal knowledge
of the hardiness, compatibility, ease of maintenance, and visual value
of many species of marine organisms, as well as our familiarity with our clients' aquarium system. Livestock is guaranteed to arrive alive; livestock provided our maintenance clients is warranted for six months.
Our shop contains facilities for conditioning coral, quarantining and treating
fish, holding livestock, propagating soft corals, and fabricating and testing
systems.
We use only fresh deionized water for sea water mixes and water replacement. Heated water is delivered in an insulated tank and pumped
directly into our clients' systems.
Our reef installations are stocked with living coral that has been "cured"
at our facility for 30-60 days, avoiding an unpleasant "cycling"
in the client's home or office and providing an instantly attractive aquarium.
We provide information and advice to aquarists all over the world, via telephone, fax, and e-mail.
We ship livestock to clients anywhere in the continental U.S. by overnight express. Equipment and supplies are usually shipped by the most economical ground service or shipped directly from our supplier. Our client list now ranges over more than 30 states. At present we do not ship internationally.
