Cooling Fans
Reef aquariums require a high level of light which makes the photosynthetic plants and animals flourish but, it may heat the tank water above the optimal 76-80 degrees. A cooling fan or two can reduce this danger.
Ventilate the lighting canopy or light fixtures over the aquarium with a fan blowing in and a fan blowing out to cool the glass cover or increase the evaporative cooling effect of an open aquarium. Fans can be wired into the lighting controller so they operate when the lights are on, or can be connected to an independent timer to provide longer cooling action.
